Last year we celebrated the Launch, Inaugural Gala and Awards Ceremony of STEM Bridges Houston, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization, founded by Dr. Jacqueline Howard Carr. She is an educator with over 30 years of experience relentlessly equipping STEM Leaders with resources to ensure their success without limitations. As the organization continues to grow, this year’s, STEM by Design Black Tie Fashion Gala, is scheduled for October 12, 2019 at the Fountain Life Center.
With growth comes additions to the team. Ms. Jessica Terry is currently serving as the Gala’s Chair. She comes with a wealth of knowledge and true leadership skills. So who is Jessica Terry?
She is clever, ambitious, and funny with an infectious smile. She is a young woman with a heart for service. To watch Jessica in action, is to immediately challenge yourself to do more. Professionally, Jessica serves as the Global Advisor for Chervron supply and trading. Jessica is responsible for implementing and standardizing global business processes. She finds ways to leverage digital technologies.
She recently accepted a position in the highly competitive Chevron Supply and Trading Commercial Skills Development Rotational Program. She is the first African American to breakthrough this ceiling.
When she served as the President of Houston Professionals chapter of National Society of Black Engineers chapter, under her presidency 2017-2018, she has raised almost $100,000 in sponsorships and scholarships. Additionally, she won the coveted award of National Professionals Chapter of the Year-the first ever in the 30 year history of the chapter.
Her passion for numbers and helping people led her to pursue a B.S. in Mathematics from Bennet College for Women. She graduated Valedictorian, Summa Cum Laude, so she could begin her career as a teacher. During her matriculation, she soon discovered an interest in engineering and decided to earn a M.S. in Industrial & Systems Engineering from North Carolina A&T University. Like the rising star she is, Jessica graduated top of her class with a 4.0.
She is a Class IV graduate of the Houston Black Leadership Institute. In 2017 she was recognized by Who’s Who in Black Houston and by NABE as the Young Black Engineer of the Year. She is a certified six Sigma Green Belt, Fast Facilitator, and Scrum Master. Jessica is a native of Indianapolis, IN, a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, INC.
